H.H. Maharaja Hanwant Singh (1947-52)

The last reigning monarch of Marwar Jodhpur, was an unconventional, progressive and dynamic Ruler who strove hard to bring his State and Capital into the 20th Century. A modernizer par excellence, Maharaja Hanwant Singh ji had much to do with the formation and development of the new city of Jodhpur outside the Old Walls and many of the present day town plans were drawn up in his time, the seed of the 'boom' today was sown by him.

Rao Raja Hukum Singh, Maharaja Hanwant Singh's younger son, was like him, progressive and unconventional, which made him immensely popular with the people.

His only son Rao Raja Parikhshit Singh lives in Jodhpur and has recently re-organised his late father's urban properties and is building, the ultra-modern complex on Residency Road, "HUKUMRAJ", in a joint venture with Shri Krishana Abodes Pvt. Ltd.
